Favre's fall from stardom ?
Brett Favre has been recently accused of sending some scandalous pictures to former New York Jets employee Jenn Sterger, who is now currently employed by Versus Sports Network. Favre is arguably not only one of the best football players in the history of the NFL but also one of the best athletes to ever play any sport. Favre just this past Monday threw his 500th touchdown pass in the NFL against ironically the Jets, and he has started more consecutive games at Quarterback then anyone in the history of the NFL. However, how will his reputation be tarnished due to these recent allegations? Today athletes are under such a huge microscope that they can't even go shopping at the local shopping center without getting noticed. Now while some athletes i feel do deserve certain disiplines such as the likes of Ben Roethlisberger, Pacman Jones, Michael Vick and others that have popped up in the past to me this should be left entirely alone. While what Favre is being accused of is quite unprofessional why is it the right of anyone to decide what Brett does with his life? A lot of people i know probably love this due to the fact they hate what Favre did with his retirement go around however why should Favre be ridiculed for that when he wasn't the one writing the articles or holding the cameras. Favre may have had a lapse in judgement however he doesn't deserve to have his great reputation destroyed. To me personally i will always be a die hard Steelers fan but Brett Favre has always played the game the right way he has always loved the game and while some may judge him for his inability to let the game go i admire that. When you love something as great as this man did its hard to say goodbye, and to think that his legacy could be tarnished because of something such as this sickens me. I think Favre should be left alone and be allowed to go about his life how he pleases whether we feel it is right or not.

Brett Favre is the greatest player that the NFL has ever seen. Favre has set records in touchdown passes, consecutive games played, and will eventually be inducted into the Hall of Fame whenever he decides to actually retire. I believe that the recent allegation on Favre will not taint his Hall of Fame career. Many modern day athletes have had allegations against them such as Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, and Ray Lewis, but eventually the discussion ceased and they went back to being the best at what they do. Favre has been accused of doing something that happened when he played for the New York Jets three seasons ago. If the situation was that bad, it would have broken the surface then and not now. I believe that the Brett Favre situation will die down and he will lead the Minnesota Vikings into the playoffs on his and Randy Moss’s shoulders.
ReplyDeleteI think this situation is similar to what happened with Tiger Woods. Everyone has always used Favre as a good role model. Amazing athlete, good behavior off the field, generally just an all around good guy. So for something like this to come out, I think people are just shocked and disappointed that one of the all-time greats would do something like this.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think that just as with Tiger Woods, this will all blow over with time. People will still respect Favre, he will still be the greatest QB in the game. It's just something that will now also be associated with him.
I agree with Farve being one of the greatest players in the NFL of all time, his numbers speak true to that. The problem I have is saying his legacy will be tarnished or it will be ruined, especially with all of the allegations against guys like Big Ben, or Vick, or even Burress. In the whole realm of things I think its tough to say that there are a lot of good charactered athletes out there anymore. Ive always been a Packer fan and even so a Farve fan, when this news broke the first thought was, well this isnt very surprising. Athletes today are all the same, married or not, they feel that they can do what they want when they want, which has been a disappointment, as these are role models to kids who want to be just like them.
